Book Hollow

Why screen-free

Why a room with nothing in it that glows?

Most of the money in children’s literacy today goes to an app, a tablet, or a device programme. We think something important has been lost along the way, and we would like to bring it back.

What makes the rooms different

  • Printed books only

A Book Hollow room holds printed books and nothing else. No e-readers or screens of any kind. This is not nostalgia, and it is not about saving money. It is the reason the rooms work.

  • A room, not a programme

We build out the space that the books live in. We provide shelves and furnishings. You provide someone to keep it open. Small enough that a school can say yes to it this term.

  • Quiet on purpose

A room with nothing in it to distract a child is a room a child can disappear into. The absence of a screen is the feature, not the limitation.

Hyderabad and South India

If you run a school, you already have the hardest part.

You provide a space and one person who cares. We provide the books, the shelves, the furnishings, and set it up for you, all at no cost.
